This began as a solo exploration into a task lamp design, moving forward we picked the four preferred works and created a refined concept and finally picking the best one to move forward with we worked as a class to build tei. By splitting ourselves into teams to tackle this project we were able to get this project finished before our deadline.
I was based in the product packaging team where I looked into the idea of extracting alginate from seaweed as a potential solution for binding by-product coffee grounds from a local coffee business. We ended up looking into multiple materials but with the short timeframe this was unfortunately not possible so we used cardboard with secured points. This was a great project for learning the ins and outs of manufacturing multiple products and using different fabrication tools to solve problems in our process.
