The Biomimicry Project was our first year Industrial Design Project which had us try to mimic a part of nature/biology in our design. I chose the idea of a brain coral because I loved how brain corals features are never perfect and one is not like the other, they are built to survive and adapt to changing conditions so I wanted my shade to reflect those imperfect features.
This project had to be created using only one sheet of polypropylene and one other sheet of additional material which I chose to be acrylic to make the lampshade look as if it is floating.
